Localization of PGE mineralization in southeastern Russia

Abstract: Southeastern Russia occupies an area south of the Siberian Platform and east of Lake Baikal, up to the coasts of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan. Most of PGE placers are localized south of the Siberian Platform, mainly within the Baikal-Aldan-Stanovoi megablock. Noble-metal placers formed by PGE minerals in varying amounts are associated with the regional mafic-ultramafic complexes of different ages, namely, layered, zoned (ring) massifs and ophiolite fields. PGE mineralization is also found in layered… Show more

“…The chain of PGE‐bearing ultramafic massifs of zonal composition in the East Asian region can be traced along the northern border of the stagnant slab projection (Figure 1) (Distler et al, 1996; Kazachenko, Miroshnichenko, Perevoznikova, & Karabtsov, 2009; Khanchuk, Plyusnina, & Molchanov, 2004; Seredin, 2004). The correspondence between PGE deposits and slab margins has attracted researchers' attention to the regularities between mantle geodynamics and ore prospectivity (Khomich & Boriskina, 2014). Such regularities were further confirmed and extended onto Au deposits by many researchers (Khanchuk et al, 2019, 2020; Khomich et al, 2019).…”

“…Vanadium titanomagnetite deposits are widely distributed around the world. Vanadium titanomagnetite usually contains valuable elements such as Fe, V, and Ti; rare and noble metals such as Co, Tc, Ga, Pt, and Pd can also be present (Chen et al, 2015;Zhu, Li, and Guan, 2016;Khomich and Boriskina,.2014;Luo et al, 2013). Therefore, considerable value can be realized through comprehensive utilization of the ore.…”
