Load identification of different Halbach-array topologies on permanent magnet synchronous generators using the coupled field-circuit FE methodology

Abstract: In this paper, the influence of gap consideration on load identification under various Halbach-array-based topologies (HABOs) is investigated while the system is on-duty. The load characteristics of a radial flux generator with closed-slots and the exterior rotor topology is discussed, where the effect of eddy-currents are observed. This comparative study deals with the consideration of the combined moment of inertia calculation that demonstrates how electromagnetic-based post processing calculations are estim… Show more

“…The hidden layer will issue its respective output (Z1, Z2, Z3 ... and so on) with the formula (in this study using the binary sigmoid activation function). After completing output to the hidden layer, then the hidden layer will go to the output layer with a value of Zk (k=1, ∑=15) and initial weight Wk (k=1 ∑=15) and bias on the hidden layer (W01) by using the Ynet equation and so on until it's finished [14]- [15].…”

“…Offshore wind farms (OWFs) have attracted considerable attention over recent years, as wind-based resource is particularly abundant far off shore [1]. The design, characteristic analysis, and control of wind power systems, based on permanent magnetic synchronous generator PMSG, have been studied recently [2][3][4][5]. The conventional transmission method for offshore wind farm is high voltage AC (HVAC) transmission [6].…”

“…Essentially, the PF is the ratio of the active and apparent power. If the fundamental harmonic components of the voltage and current are much higher than the higher harmonic components (low total harmonic distortion (THD) of the voltage and current), the PF is calculated simply as the cosine of the displacement between the voltage and current (phase angle) [84][85][86] which can be written as:…”
