Load identification in dynamic wireless power transfer system utilizing current injection in the transmitting coil

Abstract: In this paper, a load identification approach for dynamic wireless power transfer for electric vehicles is introduced. In the proposed method, determination of the load parameters and position are achieved without requiring any communication link between the transmitter and receiver or using any extra coil. The load detection procedure is achievable using two modes: the energy injection mode and the free resonant mode. The operating principles and theoretical analysis of this method are presented in this paper… Show more

“…It is clear from (19) and (20), the lack of tuning in the frontend loop of the LCC network (i.e., Δ S ≠ 0) causes the other detuned parameters (Δ T and Δ R ) to influence the power estimation in a non-linear way. Therefore, amongst Δ S , Δ T , and Δ R , proper tuning of Δ S is crucially important to achieve an acceptable result from the proposed technique of transferred power estimation.…”

“…1, the pickup position must be sensed and sent to the driving system. So far, studies have shown some promising results in the realm of pickup position estimation by directly measuring WPT coil-compensator current and voltages [24][25][26][27], or with the use of additional sensing systems [28,29], and yet some more accurate and fast techniques are being investigated. Position estimation is important particularly in EVs to make them smarter, especially for auto piloting.…”
