Load Cell Application in Rocket Thrust Measurement System

Abstract: A load cell is an important component in measuring thrust generated by rocket in rocket technology research and development. It aims to test the rocket thrust in achieving the targeted objectives of the project. A load cell is a transducer that is used to convert a force into electrical signal and it usually consists of four strain gauges assembled in Wheatstone bridge configuration. The strain gauge converts the deformation (strain) to electrical signals. This conversion occurs in two stages. First, the strai… Show more

“…LabView is used as a platform for data logging interface, which is connected to the National Instrument hardware. National Instrument hardware acts as a signal conditioning that allows the voltage readings acquired by load cell to be collected and analyzed by LabView [2]. By using Low Pass Filter for Fast Fourier Transform purpose, data analysis managed to get the values of voltage and frequency for unloaded load cell.…”

“…Various devices have been developed for the direct and indirect measurement of stress in bridge cables. Among the devices used for direct stress measurement are load cells 11 , 12 , fibre optic Bragg grating sensors 13 or elasto-magnetic strain sensors 14 , 15 . While the most common indirect methodology for rapid stress assessment in bridge cables is the vibrating wire technique 16 18 .…”
