LncRNAs could play a vital role in osteosarcoma treatment: Inhibiting osteosarcoma progression and improving chemotherapy resistance

Abstract: Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common primary solid malignant tumors in orthopedics, and its main clinical treatments are surgery and chemotherapy. However, a wide surgical resection range, functional reconstruction of postoperative limbs, and chemotherapy resistance remain as challenges for patients and orthopedists. To address these problems, the discovery of new effective conservative treatments is important. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are RNAs longer than 200 nucleotides in length that do not enc… Show more

“…There is a high rate of aggressiveness in osteosarcoma (OS), and it is often diagnosed at an early stage, which makes it one of the most common malignant tumors in orthopedic surgery. 156 Postoperative recurrence rates are high, surgical resection ranges are wide, and chemotherapy is resistant. There are two types of lncRNAs: oncogenic and tumor-suppressive.…”

“…Oncogenic lncRNAs highly express OS cells compared with tumor-suppressive lncRNAs. [156][157][158][159][160] Zhao et al disclosed in 2019 that exosomes secreted by BMSCs promote OS cell migration and proliferation. They discovered that the miR-183-5p PVT1 reservoir increased OS cell ERG expression.…”
