LncRNA PPP1R14B-AS1 Promotes Tumor Cell Proliferation and Migration via the Enhancement of Mitochondrial Respiration

Abstract: PPP1R14B-AS1 is an antisense long non-coding RNA with unknown functions. Herein, gene differential analyses were performed using the data of patients with liver cancer and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. PPP1R14B-AS1 was found to be upregulated and also overexpressed in 10 other types of cancers. In addition, PPP1R14B-AS1 overexpression was associated with poor overall prognosis in eight cancers. Furthermore, PPPAR14B-AS1 upregulation was positively associated with worsening d… Show more

“…The Genotype Expression Project GTEx) provides data as TPM, and the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) provides data as FPKM. Many researchers use data normalized in this way for correlation analysis (Barshad, Blumberg et al 2018, Galai, Ben-David et al 2020, Sakharkar, Kaur Dhillon et al 2020, Yang, Zhang et al 2020, Boardman, Migally et al 2021, Marquardt, Solimando et al 2021, sometimes aided by web-based database interrogation tools (Tang, Li et al 2017). However, other normalization methods have been proposed which aim to account for biases in library composition, in addition to sequencing depth.…”

“…PPP1R14B-AS1 was identified to be highly expressed in 12 malignancies in the TCGA database. The inhibition of PPP1R14B-AS1 can repress growth and migration in human hepatocellular carcinoma ( 53 ). ZNF667-AS1, as a tumor suppressor, could inhibit the viability, migration, and invasion of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma ( 54 ).…”

“…Meanwhile, LUAD displayed unique metabolic characteristics with high glycolytic activity, which is one of the most crucial hallmarks of cancer (Hanahan and Weinberg, 2011). It is reported that PPP1R14B-AS1 overexpression was associated with poor prognosis in LUAD (Yang et al, 2020). Inhibition of glycolysis could regulate the cell survival of LUAD (Farah et al, 2012).…”
