Livros didáticos para formação de " bons cristãos e virtuosos cidadãos"

Abstract

The theme of this research is the process of production and dissemination the didactic books of the F.T.D. from the perspective of the people who participated in it, translators, authors and editors. The general aim was to analyze the practices adopted by the marist brothers that made enabled the insertion, circulation and permanence of the collection named F.T.D. in the field of didactics in Brazil from 1912 to 1956. At to achieve this goal, I had reflected on the authorship and edition of the books; I had analyzed the social articulations established between the authors and editors of the collection and a particular intellectual who, through letters, had supported and had disseminated this editorial project. The period of this research is justified because it is the moment who the Institute of the Marist Brothers signed a contract with bookstore Francisco Alves to sell the books and Typografia Siqueira for their printing. The Institution, the collection`s owners, articulated the expansion and strengthening of this project in the southeastern region with a network of schools. The organization of the collection of titles for books school had as main agents the members of the Institution, who had been teachers, translators, authors and editors. In this thesis, the institution's periodicals were used as the main sources of investigation: Bulletin des Études (1912), Boletim dos Estudos (1931-1945), Voz Marista (1945-1958, the Vingt Ans de Brésil memorial report , and the biographical works: Biographical sketch of the first provincial and Biographical sketch of the second provincial. The thesis has as its theoretical alignment the cultural history with interlocution mainly with Chartier who had researched the history of the book and its authorship and edition and with Bourdieu in relation to the editorial field. It check that this editorial project was together with the expansion of Marist schools and the growthing of schools in Brazil. There are social articulations between the authors and editors of the F.T.D. with intellectuals, with very interests, contributed to the strengthening of educational projects and provided support in relation to the preparation of books in the Portuguese language area with rules to orthographic norms and teaching programs that had Colégio Pedro II as a reference.
