Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a common cause of seizure and major cause of neurological illness globally. It is one of the major causes of epilepsy in children. Fewer studies were done in the past regarding NCC in Nepal. However study on NCC in children in Gandaki Medical College (GMC), Charak Hospital is the first of its kind. 23 children with CT scanning of head that were consistent with NCC over a period of 18 months at GMC, Charak Hospital were included as study subjects. Although there are so many diagnostic tools including MRI, immunological and serological tests for the detection of NCC, CT scanning of the head was used for its diagnosis in this study. 17.3% of the study subjects were found to have suffered from NCC. Girls (60%) outnumbered boys (40%); it was more commonly seen in 10-15 years age group (47.83%). Three main clinical presentations were Seizure (100%), Headache (73.91%) and Vomiting (30.43%). Most of the cases had ring enhancing lesion at colloidal stage. All patients were treated with albendazole, dexamethasone and antiepileptic drugs (AED) and advised strongly to continue for the period of at least 2 years without failure. NCC should be considered and CT/MRI head must be performed in all children above 5 years of age presented as seizure, headache or vomiting where Taenia solium (TS) infestations are found endemic.

Самойловой, отделение реанимации и интенсивной терапии новорожденных 2 Представлен клинический случай генерализованной энтеровирусной инфекции новорожденного (энцефаломиокардита ново-рожденнных) с формированием дилатационной кардиомиопатии в исходе болезни. Тяжесть заболевания определялась выра-женностью сердечно-сосудистой недостаточности. Диагноз подтвержден выделением рибонуклеиновых кислот энтеровирусов в стерильном материале -ликворе и крови. A case of generalized enteroviral infection of a newborn (encephalomyocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy) was described. The 6 day old patient required close monitoring and intensive care because of severe heart failure. Diagnosis of enteroviral infection was made by detection of enterovirus RNA in the sterile body fluidsblood and cerebrospinal fluid. Спектр клинических проявлений варьи-рует от легких лихорадочных заболеваний до тяжелых сепсис-подобных, с полиорганной недостаточностью [1]. Особой формой энтеровирусной инфекции являет-ся знцефаломиокардит новорожденных, который раз-вивается у новорожденных и детей первых месяцев жизни, характеризуется бурным развитием симптомов менингоэнцефалита в сочетании с нарастающей сер-дечной недостаточностью и отличается очень тяжелым течением [2]. Клинический пример демонстрирует тя-жесть течения и развитие осложнения после перене-сенного заболевания.Ребенок Н., родился от 2 беременности у женщины 27 лет. Беременность протекала на фоне гипотиреоза, бактериурии в 17 недель. Роды 1-ые в 38 недель. Пос-ле рождения состояние расценивалось как удовлетво-рительное, оценка по Апгар 8/8 баллов. На 6 сутки состояние ребенка ухудшилось, повысилась темпера-тура до 38,5 °С, появилась выраженная вялость, угне-тение. В общем анализе крови выраженных признаков воспаления не было -лейкоциты 12,8 × 10 9 /л, п/я 6%, с/я 37%, л 41%, м 16%. На рентгенограмме орга-нов грудной клетки -двусторонняя очаговая инфильт-рация легочной ткани. Проведенная люмбальная пунк-ция выявила менингоэнцефалит, ликвор вытекал под давлением, белок 1,3 г/л, цитоз 433 × 10 6 /л, лимфо-цитарный. При культуральном исследовании ликвора и крови роста микрофлоры не было. Ликвор и кровь ис-следованы в полимеразной цепной реакции (ПЦР) на наличие перинатальных патогенов, нуклеиновых кис-лот вирусов простого герпеса, краснухи, цитомегалии, токсоплазмы не обнаружены.
