Lithology distribution model of point-bar dominated meandering river deposits for uncertainty quantification

Abstract

Well data shown in Figure 5 were used to aid the interpretation. Colored lines were interpreted as depositional and erosional surfaces within the point-bar deposits and outer boundaries of abandoned-channel deposits. (c) Selected and integrated interpretation lines for building a framework model (Fig. 3). (a) 3D seismic data were interpreted to delineate the distribution of point-bar and abandonedchannel deposits, and depositional/erosional surfaces in the deposits (Fig. 2). (b) A framework model was built based on the interpretation in (a) (Fig. 3). (c) A training image for the pointbar deposits was built by representing depositional and erosional processes (Fig. 4). (d) Models of the lithologic distributions of point-bar deposits and abandoned-channel deposits were built by using multiple-point and two-point geostatistics, respectively (Fig.5; Takano and Tsuji, 2013; Tsuji et al., 2013).
