Liquid−Liquid Equilibria of Hydrocarbons with N-Formylmorpholine

Abstract: Liquid−liquid equilibria of N-formylmorpholine (NFM) with alkanes (n-hexane, n-heptane, isononane), aromatics (benzene, p-xylene, toluene), and water were investigated. The experiments were conducted by considering binary, ternary, and quaternary systems at different temperatures (20−60 °C) and initial mixture compositions in the range of mole fraction equal to 0.3−0.6 for NFM, 0.23−0.4 for alkanes, 0.11−0.4 for aromatics, and 0.072−0.24 for water, respectively. The results are used to estimate the interaction… Show more

“…These include sulphlolane [1][2][3][4][5], N-methylpyrrolidone [6], glycol [7,8] and N-formylmorpholine (NFM) [9][10][11][12]. The extractive distillation process using NFM as a solvent is suitable for aromatics separation from reformates.…”

“…Table 1 shows a summary of the collected information. Cincotti et al, 1999;Ko et al, 2002 (b) DDBST; Krummen & Gmehling, 2004MCP Ko et al, 2003Knoop et al, 1989and Weidlich et al, 1987BZ DDBST and Yin, 2010DDBST CH Ko et al, 2003DDBST n-HP Cincotti et al, 1999Qattan et al, 1995; DDBST; Krummen & Gmehling, 2004MCH Ko et al, 2003 From this information the parameters for the NRTL (Non-random two-liquid) model were estimated and the resulting correlation compared with experimental data for different temperatures. The choice of this model was based on its ability to represent deviations from ideality at low pressure and because it was already used successfully in similar works, like , Zhu et al, 2007e Dongchu et al, 2007 The NRTL model variant used in this paper is given by:…”
