Liquid Crystalline Thermosetting Composites‐Based Triboelectric Nanogenerators with Intrinsic Flame Retardancy

Abstract: Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have drawn essential interest as highly sensitive sensors that can function efficiently in harsh conditions, which can be life‐saving but challenging to accomplish. Herein, this work explores carbon fiber (CF)‐reinforced liquid crystalline thermosetting (LCT) triboelectric composites as flame retardant triboelectric nanogenerators (FR‐TENGs). FR‐TENGs with controlled structural and chemical properties exhibit not only outstanding flame resistance but also excellent triboele… Show more

“…The deviation range of 8% in normalized spectral responsivity and a 99.99% yield are confirmed for the three different classes of flexible devices (pristine 2D PbI 2 flake, pristine CdS 0.22 Se 0.78 nanobelt, and 1D CdS 0.22 Se 0.78 nanobelt/2D PbI 2 flake hybrid heterojunction) fabricated from two separate sample batches and the finding depicted in Figure i. Thanks to a heterojunction design that could be efficiently assembled on flexible tape, it is amenable to a scaled-up building strategy, which may ultimately enable the formulation of modern photonic sensors. , …”

“…Similarly, Qadeer et al fabricated a flame retardant triboelectric nanogenerator (FR-TENG) based on the shape memory performance and fire retardancy of liquid crystalline thermosetting. 78 FR-TENG could retain excellent incombustibility even after 60 s of burning. FR-TENG was pre-programmed into an L-shaped temporary shape and installed in the circuit.…”

“…In order to overcome the constraints of electronics relying on 2D PbI 2 material, mixed-dimensional heterostructures, as a possible solution for future multifunctional platforms, are assumed to be a convenient and effective approach. Compared to the individual material, a mixed-dimensional heterostructure not only manifests the intrinsic properties of both individual components, as well as displays the extra desirable characteristics as a result of interplay at each component’s interface. Low cost CdSe, as an important photoelectric chalcogenide of the II–VI group with a direct bandgap of ∼1.74 eV at room temperature, is widely explored in optoelectronics due to its excellent optical and electrical characteristics. Among other morphologies of CdSe, a distinct 1D nanobelt like morphology with a rectangular shape at the edges has been widely studied in photodetectors. , Thus, the present study integrates the distinct properties of the aforementioned sensing materials to fabricate a well performing 1D/2D hybrid heterojunction photodetector. To date, there is no available approach for the fabrication of broadband flexible photodetectors utilizing a single crystalline CdSe nanobelt/2D PbI 2 flake hybrid heterojunction on a cost-effective flexible polyimide tape-based substrate.…”
