Lipidomics and Anti-Inflammation Activity of Brown Algae, Lobophora sp., in Vietnam

Abstract: Lobophora sp., belonging to brown macro algae phylum, is found in coral reefs. In this study, the fatty acid composition, lipid classes, polar lipid molecular forms, and bioactivities of this algae have been determined. It follows that five classes including polar lipid (Pol), sterol (ST), free fatty acids (FFA), triacylglycerol (TAG), and hydrocarbon and wax (HW), 23 fatty acids containing 5 PUFAs (ALA, GLA, AA, EPA, and DHA) and 157 molecular types of polar lipid group containing 48 phospholipid molecular fo… Show more

“…The chemical structure and number of the betaine lipids molecular forms were analysed by highperformance liquid chromatography combined high resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) according to the method reported by us. [12] The HPLC-HRMS system of Shimadzu Prominence includes 2 LC-20AD pumps, high pressure generator module, CTO-20A column oven, SIL-20A autosampler, CBM-20A modular system controller, DGU-20A3 degasser. A Shim-Pack diol column (ID 50 mm × 4.6 mm, the particle size 5 μm, Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan) was used to separate polar lipid classes.…”

“…The effects of lipid are mainly related to polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). [5][6][7] Following to our recent research on the composition and content of fatty acids, lipid classes of some genus in the phylum Rhodophyta such as Gracilaria, Hypnea, 8 red algae genus in Con Co island, [8][9][10] Sargassum, Ochrophyta [11] and lipid molecular species of the rare brown algae Lobophora sp., [12] we have carried out the research on lipidome of Halimeda incrassata. In this report, the aims are to publish the composition and the content of fatty acids, lipid classes and especially betaine lipid molecular species of the green algae Halimeda incrassata Lamx.…”

“…Total lipid extraction was performed following the method of Bligh and Dyer, 1959 [15] and Pham et al 2020. [10] The lipid (200 mg) was dissolved in chloroform and loaded on the silica column (Phillipsburg, NJ). The unpolar lipids containing the pigments and neutral lipids were obtained by washing with 44ml chloroform.…”

“…[14] Moreover, the polar lipid has the anti-inflammatory activity against the production of nitric oxide (NO). [10] In this report, this is the first time to publish the glycolipid molecular species and the antiinflammatory activity of lipid fractions from the green seaweed Halimeda incrassata Lamx. collected from Truong Sa archipelago, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam.…”
