Lipid Fingerprinting of Different Material Sources by UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap/MS Approach and Their Zebrafish-Based Activities Comparison

Abstract: Lipids are considered to be critical contributors to nutrition, structural function, metabolic function, and other biological roles. They vary from one biological source to another. Here, the lipids from three common sources (soybean, egg yolk, and shrimp head) were comprehensively compared and characterized using the lipidomics approach, together with the UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap/MS method. A total of 3027 lipid structures containing 778 fatty acids, 750 glycerolipids, 1283 glycerophospholipids, 200 sphingoli… Show more

“…Using the MTBE method, the number of lipids identified was obviously higher than that acquired with the other extraction methods reported in the literature. 2,16,49 All of the characterized lipids were quantified on the basis of corresponding internal lipid standards. The detailed quantitative results of soybean, sesame, peanut, and rapeseed were listed in Tables S4−S7 of the Supporting Information, and the total contents of 15 lipid classes in soybean, sesame, and peanut were represented in Table S8 of the Supporting Information.…”

“…The occurrence and development of many chronic diseases (such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, etc.) are directly related to lipid homeostasis . The lipid compositions and structures of oils influence its subsequent digestion and absorption properties. , Therefore, oilseed lipid composition and content will significantly affect the quality, nutrition, and hygiene of edible vegetable oils, thereby affecting nutrition and health.…”

“…At present, the study on the lipids of shrimp heads has attracted increasing attention. In our previous study, we used lipidomics to compare the differences between lipids from shrimp heads and other sources [39]. We isolated phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylinositol (PI), sphingomyelin (SM), and other types of phospholipids from Penaeus vannamei and comprehensively evaluated their cardiovascular activities.…”

“…Compounds 1 and 2 with enough material showed no cytotoxicity in the cytotoxic assay and were further evaluated for antithrombotic activity in zebrafish larvae. 21 Aspirin was used as the positive control. The formation of the thrombus in zebrafish caudal vein was inversely proportional to the staining intensity (SI) of erythrocytes in the zebrafish heart.…”
