“…This is probably partly because the ocular fundi are not always examined in comatose diabetic patients, when other measures are urgently called for, and by the time this is done the ketoacidosis will have been reversed and the retinal lipaemia will have disappeared. Laws and Harpur (1958)t collected 69 cases of diabetic lipaemia retinalis from the literature.
