Lipase and their different industrial applications: A review

Abstract: Enzymes are also known natural catalysts. Lipases are flexible enzymes that are mostly used. These enzymes are found extensively all over the animal and plant kingdoms, likewise in molds and bacteria. Among all identified enzymes, lipases have concerned the mainly biotechnological attention. This review paper discusses the characteristic, microbial origin and application of lipases. The present review discussed about different characteristics and sources (fungal, bacteria's) of lipase. The present article also… Show more

“…Their role as a global enzyme in the market has significantly grown compared to the other hydrolysis enzymes such as peptidases [2]. Lipases from microorganisms are a major source as compared to plant lipases [3,4]. The protein structure of the lipases from plants has not been widely studied due to the low protein expression and laborious purification to produce, which tends to cause less purified protein compared to lipases expressed in microorganisms.…”

“…Based on the market value, lipases are known as the third-largest group, after proteases and carbohydrases. Lipases are beneficial for bioapplication in the food industry, detergent formulation, pharmaceutical industries, leather processing, bioremediation, biocontrol agent, and biofuel production to replace chemical catalysts benefit from being more environmentally friendly [7,8]. The biological reaction of lipase-catalyzed biodiesel generation is a green technology with fewer purification steps and is easier to perform than the chemical reaction [9].…”

“…Lipase is an enzyme whose use is very broad and is found in animals, plants, fungi and bacteria. Lipases catalyze the hydrolysis of long-chain acyl glycerol at the aqueous oil interface [2]. Lipase has substrate specificity and variety different enzymatic properties, like broad source, short cycle, wide pH range, and a wide temperature range.…”

“…Microbial growth conditions that affect lipase synthesis and production include carbon sources. Carbon sources can come from olive oil or other vegetable oils [2]. Vegetable oil has been used as an inducer for lipase production by adding vegetable oil to the media.…”
