“…The trend for lower somatic cell counts when feeding higher levels of whole flaxseed agrees with the lower scores reported for early lactating dairy cows fed diets containing 100 g/kg DM whole flaxseed compared to diets containing energy booster, a saturated fat (Petit et al, 2007a) or compared to diets with no fat (Petit et al, 2007b). According to Kaithwas et al (2011), omega-3 FA from flaxseed oil may have anti-inflammatory properties as shown by lower microbial count in milk samples from infected udders following 7 days of intramammary administration of flaxseed oil.…”

“…An accentuated inflammatory rim seemed more obvious around the untreated burns than in the treated ones. This finding can be attributed to the anti-inflammatory and the antibacterial properties of linseed oil, pumpkin oil, and the healer reference (Hammar et al, 1999;Kaithwas et al, 2011;Sainath et al, 2011).…”

“…Recent studies demonstrating the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties for these two extracted oils (Eraslan et al, 2013;Hammar et al, 1999;Kaithwas & Majumdar, 2012;Kaithwas et al, 2011), have given us an impetus to pay a special attention to them. Despite all their characteristics, there have been no systematic studies carried out to evaluate their wound healing potential.…”

“…And flaxseed was an annual herb and originated from Egypt (Kaithwas et al, 2011), and flaxseed was one of the oldest crops, having been cultivated since the beginning of civilization (Laux, 2011). Every part of the flaxseed plant was utilized commercially, either directly or after processing, while flaxseed oil and its sub-products were used in animal feed formulation (Laux, 2011;Singh et al, 2011;Shim et al, 2014) (Fig.…”
