This research investigated the mediating effect of knowledge management on information literacy and intellectual property. A cross-sectional survey was conducted for data collection among librarians and students, recruited through a purposive sampling procedure and simple random sampling, from four selected universities in Ghana. The questionnaire was personally administered by visiting the selected libraries with written permission. A total of 573 survey responses were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) to establish the relationship between knowledge management, information literacy, and intellectual property. The results show that knowledge management fully mediates the relationship between information literacy and intellectual property. Again, the study revealed that the information literacy of library staff had a direct and indirect but positive influence on intellectual property. This research would be a worthwhile contribution to the existing research on knowledge management as the mediated role of information literacy and intellectual property has fully not been examined so far.

English Online Hybrid Teaching Based on Internet-of-Things Information Technology

In recent years, due to the epidemic, the country is vigorously developing online teaching, which further promotes the development of hybrid English teaching. Online and offline hybrid teaching combines face-to-face classroom and online teaching. Offline traditional classroom and online auxiliary teaching can complement each other. However, in actual teaching, mixed teaching still suffers some defects, which can undermine the learning outcomes. In this paper, the Internet of Things information technology is used to study hybrid teaching. Firstly, relevant core concepts are clarified. After that, this paper designs an English online hybrid teaching model based on Internet of Things information technology and verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of this model through experiments. The results show that, compared with the simple mixed teaching, the average score of students’ final evaluation under this mode increased by 5.11 points. And the proportion of students with classroom interaction and autonomous learning also rose by 12.1%. This shows that under the promotion of Internet of Things information technology, the online hybrid teaching mode has great guiding significance for middle school English teaching.

Students’ frequency of access to school library materials in transformative times

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered many school and school library closures, resulting in shifts to online and/or hybrid instruction and limited school library access. This survey of parents of PreK–12 students (aged 2–18 years) investigated students’ frequency of access to school library materials prior to (T1), during (T2), and predicted after (T3) the pandemic ( n = 230). Demographics such as age, gender, race, and ethnicity and other factors such as household income, community type, geographic location, type of school, school environment, and number of books in home were collected. Frequency of access to school library materials was compared at T1, T2, and T3 by demographic and other factors. Results demonstrate that frequency of access to school library materials differed significantly between time points. Repeated-measures analysis of variance showed a significant difference between T1 and T2 and between T2 and T3 but not between T1 and T3. Significant interactions were found for age and frequency of access over time, with age group 6–10 years showing the most change. Significant differences were found for all three types of school environment, with face-to-face students showing less disruption in their access than online and hybrid students. Students’ frequency of access to school library materials was negatively influenced by closures and limited access, with the expectation of a return to similar frequency of access on resumption of normal operations. Given the strong associations between access to school library resources and academic performance, these results suggest student learning may have suffered during these closures.
