Linking Diagnostic-Related Groups (DRGs) to their Processes by Process Mining

Abstract: The knowledge of patient-flow is very important for healthcare organizations, because strongly connected to effectiveness and efficiency of resource allocation. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to process analysis are scarcely effective and low efficient: they are very time-consuming and they may not provide an accurate picture of healthcare processes. Process mining techniques help to overcome these problems. This paper proposes a methodology for building a DRG related patient-flow using process mining. … Show more

“…Duma and Aringhieri (2017) classified events into 15 classes, then they merged consecutive events of the same event class because irrelevant from a control-flow perspective. Stefanini et al (2016) manually grouped activities having different names but same semantic. In (Naeem et al, 2017), clusters have been discovered based on time aspects, where activities having lesser frequency of occurrence were grouped as one.…”

“…García et al [21] used process mining for analysis and modeled processes in the Emergency area. Authors in [22] proposed a methodology for identifying and mapping patient flows through the extraction process. Pereira Detro et al [23] offer a process model adapting the method based on ontology and process mining.…”

“…It is useful to denote that one of the emerging research disciplines is process mining [23][24][25][26][27]. According to Rojias et al (2016) [28], extracting knowledge from data generated and stored in the databases of information systems, it is possible to create an event log.…”
