Smart metes used in electric grids need a dedicated network that should be highly reliable & cost effective. Various techniques like 3G cellular have been proposed to improve efficiency of this smart grid electric meter network. For distribution of proper information in smart grid system Hybrid Spread Spectrum using slow frequency technology is also better choice. To improve the performance of this network in the terms of throughput and number of smart meter per data aggregation point (DAP), we have proposed HSS-FFH (to implement AMI) method. These techniques give better result in terms of coverage high density population area & interference immunity.

A routing protocol suitable for backhaul access in wireless mesh networks

This work proposes the Wireless-mesh-network Proactive Routing (WPR) protocol for wireless mesh networks, which are typically employed to provide backhaul access. WPR computes routes based on link states and, unlike current routing protocols, it uses two algorithms to improve communications in wireless mesh networks taking advantage of traffic concentration on links close to the network gateways. WPR introduces a controlled-flooding algorithm to reduce routing control overhead by considering the network topology similar to a tree. The main goal is to improve overall efficiency by saving network resources and avoiding network bottlenecks. We first analyze the proposed algorithms compared with the algorithms used by OLSR for the same tasks in terms of running time, optimality, and number of routing messages. Results show that the algorithms proposed by WPR are more efficient than the algorithms used by OLSR in running time and number of routing messages. In addition, we also perform simulations to evaluate the performance of WPR. Results reveal that the aggregated throughput of WPR outperforms OLSR by up to 27% using a combination of web and backbone internal traffic despite our design assumption of traffic convergence toward gateways.

SUMMARYIn this paper, a decentralized concurrent transmission strategy in shared channel in Ad Hoc networks is proposed based on game theory. Firstly, a static concurrent transmissions game is used to determine the candidates for transmitting by channel quality threshold and to maximize the overall throughput with consideration of channel quality variation. To achieve NES (Nash Equilibrium Solution), the selfish behaviors of node to attempt to improve the channel gain unilaterally are evaluated. Therefore, this game allows each node to be distributed and to decide whether to transmit concurrently with others or not depending on NES. Secondly, as there are always some nodes with lower channel gain than NES, which are defined as hunger nodes in this paper, a hunger suppression scheme is proposed by adjusting the price function with interferences reservation and forward relay, to fairly give hunger nodes transmission opportunities. Finally, inspired by stock trading, a dynamic concurrent transmission threshold determination scheme is implemented to make the static game practical. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme is feasible to increase concurrent transmission opportunities for active nodes, and at the same time, the number of hunger nodes is greatly reduced with the least increase of threshold by interferences reservation. Also, the good performance on network goodput of the proposed model can be seen from the results.
