A large number of experimental discoveries especially in the heavy quarkonium sector that did not at all fit to the expectations of the until then very successful quark model led to a renaissance of hadron spectroscopy. Among various explanations of the internal structure of these excitations, hadronic molecules, being analogues of light nuclei, play a unique role since for those predictions can be made with controlled uncertainty. We review experimental evidences of various candidates of hadronic molecules, and methods of identifying such structures. Nonrelativistic effective field theories are the suitable framework for studying hadronic molecules, and are discussed in both the continuum and finite volumes. Also pertinent lattice QCD results are presented. Further, we discuss the production mechanisms and decays of hadronic molecules, and comment on the reliability of certain assertions often made in the literature.

With the new measurements of J=c and c 0 ! c ð 0 c Þ from the CLEO and BES-III collaboration, we reinvestigate the intermediate meson loop (IML) contributions to these radiative decays in association with the quark model M1 transitions in an effective Lagrangian approach. It shows that the ''unquenched'' effects due to the intermediate hadron loops can be better quantified by the new data for J=c ! c . Although the IML contributions are relatively small in J=c ! c , they play a crucial role in c 0 ! c ð 0 c Þ. A prediction for the IML contributions to c ð3770Þ ! c ð 0 c Þ is made. Such unquenched effects allow us to reach a coherent description of those three radiative transitions, and gain some insights into the underlying dynamics.

Exclusive open-charm near-threshold cross sections in a coupled-channel approach

Data on 7 open-charm channels collected by the Belle Collaboration are analyzed simultaneously using a unitary approach based on a coupled channel model in a wide energy range $ \sqrt s $ = 3.7 − 4.7 GeV. The resulting fit provides a remarkably good overall description of the line shapes in all studied channels. Parameters of 5 vector charmonium resonances are extracted from the fit. It is demonstrated, that this approach could be used account for all exclusive channels and thus solve the long-term problem of the charmonium spectra near threshold.
