Linear transformation and absorption of waves in a Plasma

Show more

“…The basic problem connected with the high-frequency plasma heating is the efficiency of the high-frequency energy transfer from vacuum to a plasma. A number of papers has been devoted to the linear theory of this problem, most of them quoted in the survey by Golant & Pilia (1971). The earlier papers concerning the wave propagation in a cold plasma are compiled in the monographs by Budden (1961) and Ginzburg (1960).…”

“…According to [5], for ν → +0 , such an addition permits one to describe the absorption process of a cold Z mode due to the excitation of short plasma waves in the vicinity of the resonance points r = r R at which δN (r R ) = −∆N and ε 1 (N R ) = 0. In the case ν → −0, this addition corresponds to the excitation process of the Z mode as a result of radiation of the plasma wave in the resonance region.…”

“…= L. The film is characterized by the dielectric tensor eij whose elements in accepted configuration have the following form [6] where bx = cos a, by = sin a cos,8, bz = = wiv, is the cyclotron frequency of carriers and the upper sign should be taken for exy, Eyz, Ezx as the lower sign being chosen for Eyx, Exz, Ezy . Condition of plasma resonance has the form [7] Therefore, we will neglect the small terms connected with collisions in all elements of the dielectric tensor excepting…”
