“…We consider that interaction of Fe 2+ ions, which are formed under steel corrosion in aqueous media, with Zn and Cd NTP complexes possessing different molecular structures, facilitates the formation of surface layers with different structures and properties. As shown, [20] the interaction of Fe 2+ ions with ZnNTP(N,O) or CdNTP(N,O) complexes involves chemical reactions (1) or (2) followed by the formation of the linear heterometallic organic‐inorganic coordination polymers Fe 1/2 Zn 1/2 NTP or Fe 7/8 Cd 1/8 NTP, respectively. The products of these interactions comprise protective layers on steel surface, the spectra of which (Figure 3, curves H and K) are identical to those of the reference samples Fe 1/2 Zn 1/2 NTP and Fe 7/8 Cd 1/8 NTP (Figure 3, curves I and L, respectively).…”

“…The interaction of soluble NTP complexes of Zn or Cd with Fe 2+ ions has been previously shown [20] to lead to the formation of linear heterometallic organic‐inorganic coordination polymers [Fe 1/2 Zn 1/2 (H 2 O) 3 μ‐{NH(CH 2 PO 3 H) 3 }] n ( Fe 1/2 Zn 1/2 NTP ) or [Fe 7/8 Cd 1/8 (H 2 O) 3 μ‐{NH(CH 2 PO 3 H) 3 }] n ( Fe 7/8 Cd 1/8 NTP ), respectively:ffr2> true1/2nFe2++n[Zn{normalN(CH2PO3)3}]4-+7nnormalH2normalO=2.84526pt=[Fe1/2Zn1/2(normalH2normalO)3μ-{NH(CH2PO3H)3}]n+1/2nZn(OH)2+3nOH- …”
