Linear MMSE transceiver optimization for general MIMO wiretap channels with QoS constraints

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the problem of jointly designing optimum linear precoder and decoder with secrecy constraints, where two legitimate parties communicate in the presence of an eavesdropper over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Gaussian channels. In particular, we focus on optimizing the linear transceiver to guarantee a certain quality of service (QoS) level for the legitimate receiver in terms of mean square error (MSE), whilst employing the artificial noise to maximally degrade the MSE for t… Show more

“…In our work, we thus consider a secure SMSE minimization-based transceiver design in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. In the literature, only two instances of MMSE-based secure precoder design have been respectively discussed in [14] and [39], however, for a simple wiretap communication scenario. These designs cannot be readily adapted for the proposed system due to increased complexity related to the presence of multiple coordinating BSs and eavesdroppers.…”

“…Multiple antennas transmission can significantly enhance the secrecy rate performance of wireless systems [17][18][19][20]. Beamforming techniques, such as zero-forcing beamforming (ZFBF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE), are proposed to increase the SNR difference between a legitimate user and an eavesdropper over a multiple-input single-output (MISO) broadcast channel [21][22][23][24][25]. Furthermore, multiuser multiple-input multipleoutput (MU-MIMO) transmission can leverage multiple users as spatially distributed transmission resources in order to improve system secrecy performance [26,27].…”
