“…Micro CT can provide highly accurate and precise assessment of internal dental structures and root canal morphology [37][38][39][40] and has been considered as a reference standard in dental liner and volumetric measurements [41][42][43][44]. In the present study, a significant difference was observed between the pulp volumes obtained from Micro CT and CBCT images (p = 0.024), but the average difference is relatively small (2.3%) when compared it to the difference reported in a previous study (maximally 21%) [22].…”

“…The accuracy of the linear measurement tool in recording bone dimensions in CT images has been reported for numerous software programs ( Al-Ekrish, 2012 , Fokas et al, 2018 , Kamiyama et al, 2012 , Loubele et al, 2008 , Luangchana et al, 2015 , Sabban et al, 2015 , Sforza et al, 2007 , Suomalainen et al, 2008 , Torres et al, 2012 , Veyre-Goulet et al, 2008 , Ganguly et al, 2016 , Vasconcelos et al, 2015 , Freire-Maia et al, 2017 , Silva et al, 2017 ), but none of the reports tested the linear measurement accuracy of a widely used and well-established implant planning software program, coDiagnostiX. Furthermore, newer programs are continuously being developed and made available to users, some at reduced or no cost, and their linear measurement accuracy also needs to be investigated.…”
