LINC01798/miR-17-5p axis regulates ITGA8 and causes changes in tumor microenvironment and stemness in lung adenocarcinoma

Abstract: Integrins are closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors. ITGA8 encodes the alpha 8 subunit of the heterodimeric integrin alpha8beta1. Studies on the role of this gene in the occurrence and development of lung cancer are scarce. The examination of public databases revealed that ITGA8 expression was significantly lower in tumor tissue than that in normal tissue, especially in lung cancer, renal carcinoma, and prostate cancer. Survival analysis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma revealed that … Show more

“…Previous studies had demonstrated that miR-17-5p exhibits high expression levels in various types of cancers and serves as a promising prognostic marker for clinical diagnosis, including breast cancer [28], colorectal cancer [29], lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) [30], and gastric cancer [31,32]. Yang et al demonstrated that miR-17-5p promotes the migration of human HCC cells through the p38 mitogenactivated protein kinase-heat shock protein 27 pathway [33].…”

“…Positive expression of miR-17-5p that binds to lncRNAs has also been reported in rheumatoid arthritis, myocardial injury, and hepatocellular carcinoma [ 24 – 26 ]. In the latest literature, LINC01798/miR-17-5p axis improved the prognosis of patients with lung adenocarcinoma, and miR-17-5p level decreased after transfection of pcDNA3.1-LINC01798 [ 27 ]. This study also demonstrated that miR-17-5p expression was downregulated when EPB41L4A-AS1 was highly expressed.…”

“…Current research believed that the increased infiltration of immune cells in glioma burdened the anti-glioma immune and resulted in the formation of immunosuppressive microenvironment [ [52] , [53] , [54] ]. Moreover, a study on lung adenocarcinoma directly revealed that TNFAIP6 led to ‘N2’ subtype neutrophil polarization, thereby promoting lung adenocarcinoma development [ 55 ]. Based on the above statement, we inferred that the high expression of TNFAIP6 may affect the prognosis by enhancing the stemness of LGG cells and strengthening immunosuppression.…”
