Show more

“…Moreover, minimal to mild sensorineural hearing loss was observed in 52.77% of pSS patients (n = 19) according to pure tone averages. According to a study on very high frequency hearing thresholds in normal-hearing adults (9000-12,500 Hz), 30 subjects (83.33%) had high frequency hearing loss in the current study [18].…”

“…Other studies followed respondents in the age group of 18–31 years, with age intervals ranging from 11 to 15 years [ 18 , 19 , 20 ]. Oppitz et al [ 21 ] used the largest age range. Kumar et al and Le Prell et al monitored the effect of personal listening devices (PLDs) [ 19 , 20 ].…”

“…Articles monitoring high-frequency hearing loss in unexposed individuals reported an increase in hearing thresholds with an increasing frequency as well as with increasing age [ 17 , 18 , 21 ]. In populations unexposed to workplace noise, significantly higher hearing thresholds were found at frequencies of 14 and 16 kHz, and these increased with age [ 17 , 20 ].…”
