Lignin-based Nanofiltration Membrane with High Permeability, Acid-alkali and Chlorine Resistances toward the Removal of Multivalent Salts and Dyes

Abstract: A lignin-based nanofiltration membrane was fabricated using aminated lignin and trimesoyl chloride as raw materials by an interfacial polymerization approach. The obtained membrane possesses excellent pure water permeability (31.2 L m−2 h−1 bar−1), high retention rates (>95%) to multivalent salts (EDTA and sodium citrate) and organic dyes (brilliant blue R and congo red), satisfactory acid-alkali and chlorine resistances, and separation-performance stability.
