Light charged Higgs boson production at the Large Hadron electron Collider

Abstract: We study the production of a light charged Higgs boson at the future Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC), through the process e − p → νeH − q, considering both decay channels H − → bc and H − → τντ in the final state. We analyse these processes in the context of the 2-Higgs Doublet Model Type III (2HDM-III) and assess the LHeC sensitivity to such H − signals against a variety of both reducible and irreducible backgrounds. We confirm that prospects for H − detection in the 2HDM-III are excellent assuming stan… Show more

“…45,53 For m H + 500 GeV, B q mixings (q = d, s) provide the relevant constraint. In particular, and as mentioned before, ρ ct must be turned off 53 because of a n The cbH + couplings in 2HDM III context has been studied in different decay channels and involving various flavor assumptions, [113][114][115][116][117] where our list is only partial. “…Amongst the possible H ± decay channels. the importance of the H ± → cb one has been pointed out as a possible viable signal in some models and its detection possibilities have been analysed for the LHC already several years ago [4,5,6,7] and very recently for the LHeC [8,9] as well. Our own studies have been carried out in the context of the 2HDM-III, where both Higgs doublets are coupled to both up-and down-type quarks and Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNCs) can be controlled by a particular texture in the Yukawa matrices [4,5,10].…”

“…[In fact, this channel has also been studied in a variety of multi-Higgs doublet models (MHDMs) [13,14], wherein the BRðH − → bcÞ ≈ 0.7-0.8 and one could obtain a considerable gain in sensitivity to the presence of a H − by tagging the b quark.] Finally, we also performed a study of the process e − p → ν e H − b followed by the signal H − → bc [6,15,16] at the Large Hadron electron Collider, finding good detection prospects.…”
