Light and Plant Growth Regulators on In Vitro Proliferation

Abstract: Plant tissue cultures depend entirely upon artificial light sources for illumination. The illumination should provide light in the appropriate regions of the electromagnetic spectrum for photomorphogenic responses and photosynthetic metabolism. Controlling light quality, irradiances and photoperiod enables the production of plants with desired characteristics. Moreover, significant money savings may be achieved using both more appropriate and less consuming energy lamps. In this review, the attention will be f… Show more

“…However, the shoot length decreased with 6-BA concentrations increasing. Hence, low and high 6-BA concentrations promote the differentiation of shoots and inhibit shoot elongation and proliferation, respectively [ 40 , 41 ] ( Table 2 ). This was also observed during the induction of A. roxburghii shoots from stem nodes [ 42 ].…”

“…CKs are other plant hormones that are known to control plant growth and development, like apical development, cell division, root elongation, stomatal behavior, and chloroplast synthesis ( Cavallaro et al, 2022 ). They are produced in the root of plants from adenine compounds.…”

“…Artificial lighting is the only source of illumination used in plant tissue cultures. In order to promote photomorphogenic reactions and photosynthetic metabolism, the lighting should emit light from the right electromagnetic spectrum areas (Cavallaro et al, 2022).…”
