BACKGROUND:Consuming fish plays a key role in human health and prevention of diseases. The aim of this study was using transtheoretical model to analyze the trend of fish consumption among women.MATERIALS AND METHODS:In this descriptive-analytic research, 383 housewives who referred to health centers in Bandar Abbas were selected through a stratified sampling method. Data were collected by a questionnaire to determine fish consumption based on transtheoretical model and analyzed by using SPSS software version 19.0. with the significance level of P < 0.05.RESULTS:Nearly 11.7% of the patients were found to be at the precontemplation stage; 3.9% were at the contemplation stage; 13.6% were at the preparation stage; 7.3% showed to be at the action stage, and 63.4% were at the maintenance stage. The results showed a significant relation of the constructs of the model with the stages of change of consuming one or two meals of fish a week. Moving through the stages of change from the precontemplation stage to maintenance stage was accompanied by an increase in decisional balance, self-efficacy, and processes of change (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:It is suggested that in designing educational interventions in the light of this model, more emphasis is placed on perceived benefits and self-efficacy. The processes of change are advised to be used more often, and perceived barriers to fish consumption need to be reduced as far as possible.

Background: Evidence suggests that the middle and low-income countries such as Ethiopia are facing the growing epidemic of both communicable and non-communicable diseases creating burden on the healthcare system. The increasing prevalence is attributed to sedentarism, lifestyle changes and the presence of other cardio-metabolic risk factors. Therefore this study was designed to assess the prevalence and association of overweight, obesity, and cardio metabolic risks and to explore if there was any agreement among the anthropometric measurements among the academic employees of the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. Methods: An institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted using the WHO stepwise approach and recommendations on 381 academic staff of the university. In addition, physical measurements such as weight, height, waist and hip circumferences, and biochemical measures such as blood pressure and fasting blood glucose level (peripheral blood samples by finger puncture) were measured using standardized tools. Result: The mean age of the participants was 33.5 years. The prevalence of obesity among the study participants defined by body mass index, waist circumference, waist height ratio and waist hip ratio was 13.1%, 33.6%, 51.9% and 58.5% respectively. The prevalence of diabetes was 4.7% among which 1.3% was not diagnosed prior to this study. About 53 (13.9%) of the study sample were found to be hypertensive (6.3% known versus 29 7.6% newly diagnosed). Among the participants 39.4% and 23.4% were found to be pre hypertensive and pre diabetic respectively. WC was significantly associated with HTN (AOR = 5.14; 2.50, 9.72), pre-DM (AOR = 4.03; 2.974, 5.96), DM (AOR = 3.29; 1.09, 6.01). In addition, WHtR was significantly associated with Pre-HTN (AOR = 2.69; 1.49, 4.58), HTN (AOR = 2.06; 1.01, 6.31), and DM (AOR = 1.85; .76, 4.32). Conclusion: This study results revealed the variable prevalence between general obesity and the anthropometric indices (IDF cutoff) defining central obesity; WC, WHtR, and WHR among the participants. The result of this study suggests that the constructs of central obesity, not BMI has to be used to screen risks of cardio-metabolic risks among Ethiopians. Objetivo. Analizar la confiabilidad del test FANTÁSTICO para evaluar estilos de vida saludables en trabajadores intervenidos por el programa "Reforma de Vida" en Lima, desde enero hasta diciembre 2015. Materiales y método. Estudio transversal. Se incluyeron las historias clínicas de trabajadores mayores de 18 años, quienes hayan llenado en su totalidad el cuestionario FANTÁSTICO. Se realizó un muestreo por criterio; donde se obtuvo una muestra de 488 trabajadores. El análisis de confiabilidad se realizó mediante el alfa de Cronbach, correlación ítem-total y análisis factorial exploratorio (método de máxima verosimilitud y VARIMAX). Resultados. Se obtuvo un alfa de Cronbach de 0,778. Se observó un leve aumento del alfa de Cronbach después de eliminar cuatro preguntas. Con respecto al análisis factorial, se observó una buena consistencia en la agrupación y pertinencia de las preguntas en los diez ítems pertenecientes al cuestionario FANTÁSTICO. Conclusiones. La confiabilidad de esta versión modificada del cuestionario de estilos de vida FANTÁSTICO es aceptable, con una consistencia interna alta y una estructura coherente de organización de preguntas en cada ítem. ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the reliability of the FANTASTIC lifestyle checklist in workers evaluated by the program "Reforma de Vida" in Lima, between January to December 2015. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study. The medical records of workers over 18 years who have fully completed the FANTASTIC lifestyle checklist. The sampling was conducted by criteria; with a final sample of 488 workers. Reliability analysis was performed using Cronbach's alpha, item-total correlation and exploratory factor analysis (maximum likelihood method and VARIMAX). Results:We've found a Cronbach's alpha of 0.778. We've found a slight increase in Cronbach alpha after removing four questions. The exploratory factor analysis has shown a good consistency in the grouping and relevance of the questions on the ten items belonging to the FANTASTIC lifestyle checklist. Conclusions: The reliability of this modified version of FANTASTICO lifestyle checklist is acceptable, with high internal consistency and coherent organizational structure of questions in each item.
