Lifelogging in the Wild: Participant Experiences of Using Lifelogging as a Research Tool

Abstract: Research in the wild has emerged in HCI as a way of studying participant experiences in natural environments. Also, lifelogging tools such as physiological sensors have become more feasible for gathering data continuously in the wild. This could complement traditional in-waves approaches such as observations and interviews. Given the emerging nature of sensors, few studies have employed these in the wild. We extend previous work by exploring the use of a physiological sensor and camera to examine how participa… Show more

“…In this novel, people try to escape the pain of the real world by exploring a digital world through several digital avatars (Stephenson, 1992). Since then, it has been defined and considered differently, including collective space in virtuality (Lee et al, 2021), mirror world (Lee et al, 2021), embodied internet/spatial Internet (Chayka, 2021), a new type of Internet application and social form that integrates a variety of new technologies (Ning et al, 2021), post-reality universe, a perpetual and persistent multiuser environment merging physical reality with digital virtuality (Mystakidis et al, 2021), an omniverse: a venue of simulation and collaboration (Lee et al, 2021), and lifelogging (Bruun, & Stentoft, 2019).…”

“…The need for bibliometrics is growing globally, and it is a type of literature review that explores the role of individual researchers and research teams. It also updates the knowledge base with authors and sources, H-index, and impacts factor [21]. Bibliometric is a type of literature review that deals with the quantitative evaluation of scientific publications, and it is a handy tool for longitudinal bibliometric analyses [22].…”

“…In this novel, humans in the physical world enter and live in the metaverse (a parallel virtual world) through digital avatars (in analogy to user's physical self) via virtual reality (VR) equipment. Since its first appearance, the concept of metaverse is still evolving with various descriptions, such as a second life [1], 3D virtual worlds [2], and life-logging [3]. Commonly, the metaverse is regarded as a fully immersive, hyper spatiotemporal, and self-sustaining virtual shared space blending the ternary physical, human, and digital worlds [4].…”
