“…In Russian-Caucasian families, the role adequacy in matters of the partners' appearance is significantly higher than in Russian (p = 0.002), and in the therapeutic sphere-though significantly higher than in Russian-Arab (p = 0.03). Comparing these results with the data of our previous study of Russian-Arab families' values [33], we believe that these data reflect a greater psychological well-being of inter-ethnic couples with a common religion, compared with inter-faith couples; as well as a lesser significance for family life of external, not directly related to the relationship, factors (in particular, the appearance of a partner) in inter-cultural couples, compared with mono-cultural Russian couples.…”

But the researches show that depending on the culture surrounding and on the subjective perception of cultural distance, foreign spouses in cross-cultural marriages mostly relay on their partner, belonging to a native culture, in realizing their life goals, because of their own low social competence in a foreign cultural environment (Chebotareva & Jaber, 2017). Thus, they invest more in family relationship waiting from the local partner investing into his or her life in general.…”

“…To date, there is no consensus about the influence of the factor of interethnicity on the quality of marital relationships (Killian, 2001;Troy, Lewis-Smith, & Laurenceau, 2006;Chebotareva & Jaber, 2017). Thus, at present, the researchers are faced with the task of identifying factors that predict the relationship quality in intercultural couples, of developing the theories of interpersonal relations, which can explain the mechanisms of the partners' feelings and interactions in such couples.…”

“…В научной литературе можно встретить противоречащие друг другу данные о том, какое влияние оказывает фактор межэтничности на качество супружеских отношений (Chebotareva, Jaber, 2017;Feeney, 2016;Troy, Lewis-Smith, 2006;Чеботарева, 2018). Это обстоятельство показывает важность исследований качества отношений в межэтнических парах с учетом различных объективных и субъективных факторов, а также важность применения различных психологических концепций для понимания характера взаимоотношений в межэтнических парах.…”
