“…This loss of muscle strength is recognized as a risk factor for aged-related disability [2], mortality [3], mobility limitation [4][5][6] and cardiovascular disease [7] and is used as a prognostic indicator of functional impairments in older adults [8]. Previous literature has also presented links between community mobility and composite scores of upper and lower extremity muscle strength in aging individuals [9,10]. Currently, the National Institute of health (NIH) classifies older women as dynapenic if absolute grip strength (aGS) is < 19.9 kg [11].…”

“…The association between life-space mobility and socioeconomic status has been investigated in some studies. In a study among older Mexican Americans, more than 12 years of education was associated with higher life-space mobility scores, indicating less restricted life-space mobility (Al Snih et al 2012). Another study conducted in Latin America showed that more limited life-space mobility was associated with lower education and insufficient income (Curcio et al 2013).…”

“…Besides higher age, functional limitations have consistently been correlated with lower life-space mobility. Also, female sex, lower education and income, depressive symptoms, cognitive decline, and transportation problems are associated with life-space restriction [4][5][6][7]. Higher life-space mobility has been associated with sense of autonomy [8], extraverted personality, social activity, and orienting more toward the future instead of only the present day [4].…”
