“…We collected meteorological data (2013-2019) in 698 monitoring stations across China from the China Meteorological Data Sharing Service System ( http://data.cma.cn/ ). Daily mean temperature (Tm) and relative humidity (Rh) were applied a thin plate smoothing spline function and interpolated to 0.01° × 0.01° (approximately equal to 1 km × 1 km) resolution grids 12 , 66 . The interpolation function included longitude, latitude and altitude as variables, and the results were verified with well accuracy by a 10-fold cross-validation method (Tm: R 2 = 0.96, root mean squared error = 2.37 °C; Rh: R 2 = 0.81, root mean squared error = 7.70%).…”

“…Third, we just used PM 10 as an indicator of air pollution and its control in the model, which may not fully control the confounding effects of air pollution. Considering the close correlation between PM 10 and other air pollutants ( 28 ), this is a feasible method to control air pollution and widely used in previous studies ( 9 , 11 , 29 ).…”

“…The Australian National University Splines (ANUSPLIN), an interpolation package based on the thin plate smoothing spline function, was employed to interpolate daily mean temperature and RH at 0•01 • × 0•01 • resolution across China (10). Their prediction accuracies have been verified (9,11). Daily meteorological data of all 285 locations were extracted from the interpolated daily corresponding grid.…”

“…A low percentage of young people may suffer from CVDs. However, YLL can give more weight to deaths among younger patients; therefore, the mortality burden of each death is heavier (Hu et al 2021 ). These findings suggest that when we use YLL per death as a measure, we should pay more attention to men and young people in planning adaptation policies, public health interventions and social services to alleviate the impact of temperature.…”

“…Recently, one national study reported life loss of CVDs per death attributable to ambient temperature, which used crude YLL rate (YLL per 100,000 population) as a novel measure. The results presented that both high and low temperatures could increase YLL rates of CVDs (Hu et al 2021 ). However, the study cannot support more precise impact for specific region, especially for Hunan province, central China.…”
