Lichen striatus colocalized with a Spitz nevus

Abstract: A 7-year-old healthy girl presented with an 11-month history of an asymptomatic red, dome-shaped papule on her right medial elbow and 6-month history of linearly distributed, few millimeter, flesh-colored papules extending from and including the red papule. Histopathology demonstrated features of both a Spitz nevus and lichen striatus.

“…Se estima que el NS está presente en menos del 1% de todos los nevos melanocíticos infantiles (3,8). Rara vez se han descrito NS en adultos y ancianos, lo cual sugiere que hay regresión de las lesiones con el envejecimiento (5,9). En la actualidad, no se ha determinado una predilección por sexos.…”

“…The etiology is unknown, but it has been hypothesized to be derived from cutaneous mosaicism caused by a postzygotic somatic mutation 3,4 . Triggering events such as trauma, viral infections, vaccinations, and medications, can initiate an autoimmune response 3,4 which will produce a linear dermatosis, characterized by pink to flesh-colored or erythematous, millimetric flat-topped papules that follow Blaschko's lines [1][2][3][4][5] . Papules often coalesce to form a hyperpigmented continuous or interrupted linear band over weeks (occasionally months) 1,3 .…”
