“…Similarly, sexual minority women experience more sexual violence than other women (Sutton et al 2019;Walters, Chen, and Breiding 2013). High rates of sexual victimization among LGBQ+ women might represent expressions of homophobia or attempts to sanction women for violating gender norms (Earnshaw et al 2020;Edwards et al 2015;Hequembourg and Brailler 2009). LGBQ+ individuals also experience harassment and microaggressions that involve misgendering based on perceived gender expression or identity (Earnshaw et al 2020). Last, it is essential to acknowledge that racially and ethnically minoritized LGBQ+ women experience harassment related to the inextricably linked influences of sexuality, gender, race, and ethnicity (Earnshaw et al 2020;Wood et al 2018).…”

“…Emerging research suggests that non-binary people may experience unique microaggressions [ 24 ] and, compared to binary transgender people, report higher rates of victimization [ 25 ], and worse health outcomes [ 3 ]. Gaining a greater understanding of the factors that may contribute to health disparities for non-binary people could aid in developing strategies to reduce such health disparities.…”

“…[27][28][29] Two focus groups were held with 19 SHPs, and three with 28 LGBTQ youth: one for all LGBTQ youth, one specific to transgender youth, and one specific to LGBTQ youth of color (YOC). Focus groups were conducted as part of a larger project on bullying 30,31 and lasted for four days with questions posted twice a day. Participants replied to questions posted by the moderators, as well as other participants' responses, and could respond to prompts anytime during the day.…”
