“…In Taber et al's (2013) study, in which they examined the effect of physical education and nutrition laws in 40 different states of the USA on students in 5th and 8th grades, it was observed that compulsory physical education programmes led to an increase in physical activity levels in female students, but that there was insufficient evidence that the physical education activities caused a decrease in students' weight gains. In Fröberg et al's (2017) study, in which the effect of physical education lessons carried out in Sweden on daily physical activity levels was examined, it was stated that implementation of PE lessons twice or three times per week could contribute to reaching the physical activity targets required for social health.…”

“…PE plays an important role in the constellation of factors that affect levels of physical activity among children (Cheval, Courvoisier & Chanal, 2016;Cooper et al, 2016;Fröberg, Raustorp, Pagels, Larsson, & Boldemann, 2017). Although motivation is strongly linked to learning in school (Hattie, 2009), students' motivation to participate actively in PE is low and declines as students age (Gao, Lee & Harrison, 2008;Säfvenbom, Haugen & Bulie, 2014), especially among girls (Säfvenbom et al, 2014;Thomas, Lee & Thomas, 2008).…”

“…One study has determined the standard energy requirements for children and teenagers in six age groups: one to three years, four to six years, seven to nine years, 10–12 years, 13–15 years and 16–18 years . It is important to determine the level of physical activity that children undertake to correctly determine their energy requirements . With current data, it is difficult to determine the energy requirements for an entire group of young athletes, as specific periods of maturation and the intensity of exercise training increase those requirements .…”
