Levelized Cost of Energy-Oriented Modular String Inverter Design Optimization for PV Generation System Using Geometric Programming

Abstract: Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is a commonly used metric to assess the cost-to-benefit ratio over the lifetime of an energy resource such as photovoltaics (PV). However, power electronics engineers tend to rely on metrics such as efficiency and power density which do not guarantee lifetime cost optimality. Recent work has shown that an LCOE-focused optimization approach can yield improved system designs, leading to improved lifetime performance with balanced lifetime cost and energy generation. “…Kugele et al [23] presented a research work by integrating the second-degree difficulty in carbon ejection controlled, reliable, innovative production management and implemented it on a computational dataset. Son et al [24] used the modeling texture of the GPP in the levelized cost of energy-oriented modular string inverter design and discussed it in the field of PV generation systems. Shen et al [25] also introduced a novel method for energy-efficient ultrareliability using the outage probability bound and the GPP technique.…”

“…Concept of Grid parity is rebuked for the PV system through the existing Feed in Tariff (FIT) and for the future expansion causes, the fixed investment costs are to be reclaimed by retail tariff reposed by modified additional tariff for the electricity from the grid [42]. Integration the design variables and magnetic losses for a cascaded modular PV inverter framework into the optimization engine gives back better operable parameters the same to minimize the LCOE [43].…”

“…The growing demand for electricity, the rapid depletion of fossil fuels, and the threat of global warming and climate change have necessitated the development of RES for power generation. Hydropower, wind, solar, and geothermal are examples of RES that deliver clean energy with zero carbon emissions [1][2][3]. The increased integration of renewable energy sources, distributed generations, and growing customers has resulted in the development of a concept called the Microgrid.…”
