“…Ibrahim et al 1 highlight that maximum-fixed energy shocks have been found superior to escalating energy shocks for cardioversion of atrial fibrillation in a previous trial—the CHESS (Comparison of High vs Escalating Shocks) trial, also published by our research group 4 —and that a comparison of electrode positions ideally should be investigated using maximum-fixed energy shocks. The results of the CHESS trial were not available when we initiated the EPIC trial comparing electrode positions.…”
