Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a deadly underdiagnosed form of pulmonary hypertension, traditionally treated with surgical extraction of thrombo-fibrotic lesions via pulmonary thrombendarterectomy (PTE) surgery. More recently, treatment options have expanded to pulmonary vasodilator medical therapy and balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA).
