The objective of this research is to examine teachers' competence in designing activities after engaging in professional development activities aimed at enhancing teaching design in order to develop students' thinking abilities that are contextually appropriate. The participants consist of 5 elementary school science teachers from schools. The research employed semi-structured interviews and classroom observation as research instruments. The findings reveal that teachers engaged in self-development through observation and learning from their peers within the community of practice (CoP). They receive advice and feedback from fellow teachers and apply these insights to improve their activities. Consequently, teachers are able to continuously refine and develop their teaching approaches to align with students' contexts. This approach facilitate diversification in thinking and learning management, as well as collaborative teamwork to enhance teaching methods. As a result, engaging and interesting thinking development activities are incorporated into student learning, along with the creation of a seamless learning-promoting environment. Collaborative teamwork in instructional design and problem-solving further afford teachers the opportunity for additional self-learning and personal development. This collaborative approach also contributes to fostering cognitive diversity and relieved the need for individual teachers to undertake all tasks independently.

Ample studies have confirmed that the concepts of Community of Practice and Lesson Study can effectively develop professional development, especially in the design of learning. This positive impact on learners is also evident. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the results that occurred with students who learned from teachers who used activities based on the concepts of Community of Practice and Lesson Study, focusing on studying cognitive competencies, including creative thinking, problem-solving, and analytical thinking. The study involved 60 elementary school students from 5 different science classrooms, taught by 5 collaborating teachers. In this research, two communities of practice were established: (i) Community of Practice A (CoP A), consisting of teachers with varying teaching experiences and teaching fifth-grade students, and (ii) Community of Practice B (CoP B), consisting of teachers with similar teaching experiences and teaching sixth-grade students. Data for this study was collected quantitatively through measures of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and creative thinking. The research results revealed that the students’ thinking competencies improved significantly. In CoP A, the students demonstrate a positive trajectory in developing competencies across all thinking competency, particularly excelling in analytical thinking. In problem-solving and creative thinking, the majority exhibit proficiency ranging from high to moderate levels. Meanwhile, in CoP B, most of the students show positive progress in thinking competencies, with high and moderate proficiency in problem-solving and creative thinking. However, there’s a noticeable trend of moderate to low emphasis on analytical thinking.

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran daring di era pandemi covid-19 melalui media google classroom pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yakni mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran daring di era pandemi covid-19 melalui media google classroom pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar yang dilihat dari keempat aspek. Sedangkan subjek penelitian adalah satu kelas yakni kelas VIII MTs. Muhammadiyah 4 Sidayu yang terdiri dari 27 peserta didik. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, angket dan tes hasil belajar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi kemampuan pendidik dalam mengelola pembelajaran, lembar observasi aktivitas peserta didik, lembar angket respon peserta didik, dan soal tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu 1)kemampuan pendidik dalam mengelola pembelajaran mencapai kriteria sangat baik dengan rata–rata keseluruhan pertemuan sebesar 100, 2)aktivitas peserta didik termasuk dalam kategori aktif karena kategori tersebut mencapai 50% yaitu sebesar 76% dari rata–rata peserta didik pada kategori aktif, 3)respon peserta didik terhadap pembelajaran daring melalui media google classroom tergolong sangat positif karena persentase rata-rata secara keseluruhan yang menjawab “ya” 85%, dan 4)hasil belajar peserta didik tuntas secara klasikal sebesar 96%.Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the effectiveness of online learning in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic through google classroom media on the material of flat-sided building.This type of research is descriptive research,which describes the effectiveness of online learning in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic through google classroom media on flat-side building materials seen from four aspects. While the research subjects were one class, namely class VIII MTs.Muhammadiyah 4 Sidayu which consists of 27students. Data collection methods used were observation, questionnaires and learning outcomes tests.The research instrument used was the observation sheet on the ability of educators in managing learning, the student activity observation sheet, the student response questionnaire sheet, and the learning outcome test questions.The results obtained were 1)the ability of educators in managing learning reached very good criteria with an overall average of 100meetings, 2)the activity of students is included in the active category because that category reaches 50%,which is 76% of the average student in the active category, 3)the response of students to online learning through google classroom media is very positive because the overall average percentage who answered “yes”is85%, and 4)the learning outcomes of students were classically complete by 96%.
