Les pâturages boisés du Parc Jurassien Vaudois dans le projet intégré GEST-MONTAGNE

Abstract: Growth and survival of trees in an upland silvopastoral system have been shown to be positively correlated with planting density. Tree growth form also contributes to the value of the tree crop. In this experiment five silvopastoral treatments, hybrid larch (Larix eurolepis, 100, 200 and 400 trees-ha-1 ) and sycamore (Acer p.seudoplatanu.v, 100 and 400 trees.ha-I ) were subjectively assessed for growth form from 0 (dead) to 10 (perfect). Scores 0! were classed as 'poor' (for pulping or chipping); scores of 7-1… Show more

“…Wooded pastures are semi-natural ecosystems forming agroforestry landscapes resulting from mixed pastoral and forestry management (Gallandat et al, 1995;Buttler et al, 2009Buttler et al, , 2012 95 (Buttler et al, 2012). Wooded pastures have a high biodiversity value, due in particular to the heterogeneity of herd pressure during summer grazing (Gallandat et al, 1995;Kohler et al, 2006;Buttler et al, 2009).…”

“…The altitude of the study sites was between 1037 m and 1436 m. 29 collection sites distributed in three different land use systems (forests, pastures with little or no tree cover and woody pastures) were studied (Table S1). The categorisation of these three land use systems was done using the phytocenosis typology of Gallandat et al (1995): 0-20% tree cover indicates "pastures with little or no trees" (NWP), 20-70% indicates "wooded pastures" (WP) and 70-100% tree cover indicates "forests and grazed wood" (F). The percentage of tree cover was calculated within 100 m radius of the trap centroid for each study site using aerial remote sensing data (LIDAR).…”

“…In the Jura mountain range, wooded pastures represent a transition zone (saltus) between the cultivated areas (ager) around the villages and the forests (sylva) (Gallandat et al 1995). These wooded pastures are also a common feature of Jura culture and serve as a place of relaxation and recreation in all seasons (Buttler et al 2012).…”
