“…Only if more fine-grained resolution is required for local-or regionalscale studies, the vegetation types may be, and should be, subject to further differentiation. Fine examples of such local studies were recently presented by Schreiber (1998) and Reif & Löblich-Ille (1999 Barbero & Quézel 1976; Galio odorati-Fagion hellenicum Zoller et al 1977 (art. 2e, 34) Geranium versicolor-Urtica dioica-Fagus sylvatica community association à Fagus silvatica et Geranium striatum (Quézel 1967) Doronico orientalis-Fagenion moesiacae Raus ex Raus 1980 Fagion hellenicum sensu Horvat et al 1974non Quézel 1967Fagion moesiacae Dafis 1973 (p.p.…”

“…Knowledge of Fagus forest vegetation close to its southeastern limits in Europe is, however, only fragmentary: reports of botanical travellers (e.g. Mattfeld 1927;Turrill 1929); material based on geographically scattered relevés (Quézel & Contandriopoulos 1965;Quézel 1967;Barbero & Quézel 1976;Zoller et al 1977;Gamisans & Hebrard 1979; vegetation monographs based upon intensive studies within restricted areas (e.g. Raus 1980;Bergmeier 1990;Theodoropoulos 1991;Habeck & Reif 1994;Schreiber 1998;Reif & Löblich-Ille 1999).…”

“…Moreover, it must be noted the complete lack of character species of Erico-Pinetea and lower syntaxa. From the proposed syntaxonomical frame, derives that the alliance Chamaecytiso-Pinion should be preferably maintained into the order Quercetalia pubescentis as formerly proposed by BARBERO & QUEZEL (1976 (6,8); Linum elegans (7,9); Dac~1i.s glomeratn (6,7); Trifoiirim ochrolericon (7,9); Coronilla varia (7,lO); Astragakis angristifolius (3); Cephalanthera rubra (1); Cicerbita muralis (1); Digitalis lanata (1); Fragaria vesca (I); Geum urbanrrm (1); Koeleria cristata (3); Larnium striatum (2); Lonicera graeca (3); Loranthus europaeus (2); Solidago virguuurea (6); Brachypodium sylvaticum (6); Larhyrus inermis (7); Helleborus cyclophyllus (8); Pedicrilaris graecu (6); Podanthum lirnonfolium (7); Sideritis raeseri ( 10); Sesleria coerulescens (9); Doronicum columnae (9).…”

“…(7); Elytrigiti corsicti (1) Notes: Up to now, the syntaxonomical treatment of this vegetation was various and heterogeneous. Previous authors included the described associations either to Querco-Fagetea (CHOUCHANI et al 1974;BARBERO & QUEZEL 1976AKMAN et al 1979 Astragalo-Brornetea (AKMAN et al 1988, 1991, to Saturejetea spinosae (ZAFFRAN 1990). The surveyed phytocoenoses, for structure and for the dominance of conifers, can be ascribed to the class Pino-Juniperetea.…”
