Abstract

The Caribbean at the Turn of the Century: Crises and Transitions. -Three recent books address the problems related to changes under way in the Caribbean basin, given the globalization of the economy and the breakup of the big blocs. By comparing these books, we can analyze what is now at stake in a region that, though fragmented, is attached to its own history with common, specifically Caribbean characteristics. Résumé RésuméTrois ouvrages récents abordent les problèmes liés aux mutations actuelles des îles du bassin des Caraïbes, dans le contexte d'effondrement des blocs et de mondialisation de l'économie.
