SummaryLength-weight relationship (LWR) parameters were determined for three demersal fish species Nuchequula gerreoides, Scarus scaber and Therapon theraps. | INTRODUCTIONThe length-weight relationship (LWR) is an important tool in fish biology, physiology, ecology, and fisheries assessment (Li, Xu, & Huang, 2013;Oscoz, Campos, & Escala, 2005). It can be used for converting lengths into biomass, determining fish condition, and comparing fish growth between species (Froese, 2006;Froese, Tsikliras, & Stergiou, 2011).Eastern region of Java Sea at north of Madura Island, Indonesia is a traditional fishing ground for local fishermen. To our knowledge, very few studies have been conducted concerning the LWRs of fish species from this area. This study reported the LWR parameters of three demersal fish species caught by seine net from this area. | MATERIALS AND METHODSThe study was carried out in the eastern region of Java Sea at north and body weight (W, g) were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.1 g, respectively.
