Leishmaniose tegumentar canina: inquérito soroepidemiológico em áreas rural e urbana no município de Uberlândia, Minas Gerais

Abstract: A partir de um surto de Leishmaniose Tegumentar (LT) humana no Triângulo Mineiro e Alto Paranaíba, propusemos-nos investigar a infecção natural em cães em áreas rural e urbana do município de Uberlândia - Minas Gerais. Os cães foram submetidos a exames clínico, hemoparasitológico e sorológico (reação de imunofluorescência indireta). Foram examinados 429 cães sendo 100 da área rural e 329 da área urbana. “…A soropositividade canina para leishmaniose tegumentar nas áreas estudadas indica que a transmissão é ativa. Maywald et al (1993), estudando regiões endêmicas de LTA em Minas Gerais, comparou os achados caninos de uma área rural estudada e de uma área urbana e constatou que, de 429 cães, apenas 1% mostrou-se reagente na RIFI na área rural, enquanto 10,6% foram reagentes na mesma técnica na área urbana.
