Abstract:This essay reconstructs a largely forgotten project by a group of late sixteenth‑century Ottoman intellectuals to challenge traditional cosmographic knowledge, and to introduce the principles of modern mathematical cartography, through the systematic engagement with material from recently published Italian printed texts.
