“…According to the results in Figure , we suggested that the CUSUM of OT decreased gradually after 33 cases as the surgeon's experience expanded. However, OT alone can‐not accurately assess the LC because in addition to an adequate surgical technique competent, there are many other factors that indicate the surgical quality, such as short‐term morbidity, mortality, conversion and oncologic outcomes . Additionally, factors that reflect the pathologic outcomes, such as tumor diameter, harvested number of lymph nodes, proximal and distal margins, and local recurrence, should be considered for cancer surgery.…”

“…Additionally, factors that reflect the pathologic outcomes, such as tumor diameter, harvested number of lymph nodes, proximal and distal margins, and local recurrence, should be considered for cancer surgery. Previous studies used some parameters to define surgical failure, such as, conversion to open procedure, microscopic margins, postsurgical morbidity within 30 days, harvested lymph node count <12, and local recurrence. We combined the characteristics of sigmoid colon and upper rectal cancer and used RA‐CUSUM with four parameters of conversion, postoperative complication of grade III, lymph nodes less than 12 and local recurrence to define surgical failure to assess the LC more accurately.…”

“…In this study, we chose operation time to study our learning curve, which is the most acceptable parameter to analyze the curve. [8,9,23,24] …”

“…and has since gained great popularity among colorectal surgeons [75]. The learning curve for SILS colectomy spans between 30 and 60 cases, according to various reports [76, 77]. As surgeons have accumulated more experience with the SILS platform, operating times have shortened and became comparable with CML [78].…”
