LEAM vs. BEAM vs. CLV Conditioning Regimen for Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation in Malignant Lymphomas. Retrospective Comparison of Toxicity and Efficacy on 222 Patients in the First 100 Days After Transplant, On Behalf of the Romanian Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation

Abstract: High-dose chemotherapy (HDT) followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is widely used in patients with malignant lymphomas. In Europe over 8,000 ASCTs for lymphoma were performed out of a total of 40,000 transplants according to the European Bone Marrow Transplant (EBMT) activity survey in 2017. ASCT is considered the standard treatment for eligible patients failing to achieve remission after first line chemotherapy or patients with relapsed or refractory lymphomas, including classi… Show more

“…Soon after CR2, the patient proceeded to an allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Conditioning chemotherapy regimen consisted of busulfan and cyclophosphamide and post-transplant immunosuppression was done using methotrexate and tacrolimus (259)(260)(261)(262). The patient rapidly recovered but developed grade 1 hepatic GVHD (graft versus host disease) that was treated with tacrolimus and methylprednisolone.…”

“…Moving away from the clinical implications, it also must be considered that formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) samples can be stored for longer, therefore ensuring that retrospective studies can be conducted when compared to flow cytometry. Thus, whilst histology remains the recommended tool for accurate diagnosis of lymphoma, flow cytometry does aid in quick assessments, especially when the clinical presentation requires immediate results [32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40].…”

“…CD3+/CD4+/CD8− shows a less aggressive type of PTCL-NOS, as compared with CD8 strongly positive PTCL-NOS. An aggressive type of PTCL-NOS is also characterized by positivity for granzyme B [33][34][35][36].…”
