Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Standard Review for Self-Inspection and Management for VOC Emission in China’s Traditional Energy Chemical Industry

Abstract: The emission of the traditional energy chemical industry accounts for 20% of the total man-made VOC emission in China, of which coal chemical and petrochemical plants are one of the most important VOC emission sources. VOC emission sources mainly include the leakage of oil refinery units and equipment, pipes and valves, respiration and leakage of various types of storage tanks, effusion of oils during loading and unloading, effusion of sewage treatment systems, all kinds of process tail gas, etc. In this paper… Show more

“…These compounds are released to the environment as a result of their use in different industrial applications [1]. Due to their hazardous characteristics for human health and environment, the difficult substitution in many industrial processes, and the increase in industrial emissions [2], governments are limiting their emissions through more stringent environmental regulations [3,4]. In this context, there is a growing interest in the research of the removal or degradation of chloromethanes from outlet gas streams.…”

“…The generalized experience is that an OGI camera is a very valuable tool for detecting potential volatile emissions (Fang Zhao and et al, 2023). It is also a valuable tool for safety management in the case of re and explosion events and it has been proven that the use of this tool will lead to reduced post-leakage failure.A study byZhao et al (2018) on the energy chemical industry in China showed that the release of hydrocarbons from the energy chemical industry accounts for 20% of all abnormal VOC emissions in China. The coal chemical industry and petrochemicals are among the most important sources of VOCs emissions.…”
